Good local pub. Good food. But they over cooked my steak.
Food ok. Service was great
Nice variety of food. Wait staff is always polite. Good place to watch a game
Consistently terrible service. I've been here four times. The beer selection is excellent. The food is aggressively mediocre. Every time I patronize this place I get the idea that they cater to their regulars, and everyone else gets for the most part ignored.Don't bother patronizing this place if you want more than one beer.
MoreGreat food & beer selection, good service. Definitely a pub atmosphere with the sports games on & a few loud fellow guests. Hard to have a conversation with my deaf Grandma, but I've been a few times, at least 4, and hope to go again!
MoreExcellent service and food. The atmosphere is your typical sports pub; it can be very loud but tables are spaced out nicely and even when busy it's never uncomfortably crowded. There are televisions basically lining the walls, so there's no bad spots to watch whatever game you want to see. They also have private rooms and charge very reasonable rates for those rooms; I've had occasion to rent them out for a birthday and graduation party a couple times. My only complaint is that I WISH there was better parking, but that's not something they can control.
MoreGreat beer selection. Lots of TVs with all sports. Food is meh.
Love this place. Been coming here for years. Always great food, drinks & service. The food is so good & correct to food from across the pond.
MoreFantastic and delicious food, I love the mood the spot has, and the cashiers were super nice. I will definitely visit here when Iâm around.
MoreI love this place has an old pub feel mixed with a lot of tvs food awesome, beer is great, same with the service everytime i come here
MoreNicest owners and great food! They also support the San Leandro community!
We had a red hat pajama breakfast there this morning the room was small but cool. The food was good we had a good time.
MoreCold beer. Delicious food. Great, friendly bartenders.
Decent beer selection, incredibly slow service
The new owners are a breath of fresh air. The wine bar is a great addition to this classic downtown eatery.
MoreGood food and a wide variety of beers. Also to mention good service
Great meeting rooms for events and groups. The owner was awesome to open early for us to come in and have a work session. The food and service is always very good. I highly recommend them!
MoreMy uncle's girlfriend just catered his memorial here. The food was fantastic and the 2 young ladies in charge where also fantastic I highly recommend this establishment for any special occasion.
MoreSo sad to see this iconic restaurant close. The fish and chips, and Shepard's pie were authentic English dishes. We will miss the giant ref phone booth that greated you on the patio.
MoreWas there for a group meeting.Friendly bartender. Waiters were accommodating and unobtrusive. Food is nothing fancy, but decent pub grub. Had the Reuben. Nicely stuffed with meat. Minimal kraut or thousand island dressing.
MoreThe Englander has an awesome selection of beers on tap and a killer menu. I couldn't ask for more. The chicken tandoori is like none other and one of the most impressive items on the menu, followed by their nachos. It has a great vibe and the service is top notch.
MoreWe enjoyed the last night of comedy hosted by Michael Booker, after 16 years! The Englander is closing. I will miss the food and the great drinks as well.
MoreDidn't know they were closing! Absolutely great!
It was understaffed and a smaller beer selection when I was there, but what they had was good. The soccer memorabilia decor looked good, too.
MoreI was there for a special occasion and had a great time. The venue and the food were good and the staff is very friendly and helpful. There are games on every TV and a good menu for a sports bar fan. Ken Sarna recommends the Englander Pub!
MoreI miss this place. I really do. I used to come here weekly when I was younger. Now the place is getting a bit old and sad. The TVs have visible ghosting and banding on them that affects visual quality. Last time I went, there was one waitress covering the entire building (It was NFL conference championship day, too!)One good thing I can add is that they play the audio for big games over the speakers. We went to another bar that day and they refused to play sound for the games, so we left there pretty quickly and went to The Englander, and were much happier.Their food still rocks, so if you're looking for a place to eat, get on down there. If you're there to watch the game... sure, it's a decent place. If you're there to watch multiple games... maybe take a look at other places. I don't think this place will disappoint you THAT much either way, though.
MoreFirst time at the Englander. Went on a Friday night before it got crowded. We waited quite a while before we got a server to take our order. We ordered the fish and chips and 16 piece chicken wings. We also had to wait awhile for our food to come. Two small pieces of fish and instead of 16 we got 8 chicken wings and no fries. We had to complain about our order and he took $5 off the bill. He said they only have 1 cook and he was the only server. But at least he should know what we ordered and explained the situation when he brought the food and not wait for us to complain. Also it appears they cater to the regular customers and not us. Food was just ok.
MoreTypical sports bar. Bar food tasty but...BAR FOOD. Lotsa fried everything. Good selection of on tap beers. Wines. Generous pour on drinks. Big screen TVs. Entertainment comedy shows events.
MoreCool but can be super busy when a Sport game is on. Lots of good sports fan. The beer and food is not too shabby lol
MorePlace is nice with many TVâs.Bartender wearing Carr Jersey was great as well as the male bartender on 8/24/19 at 4pmChicken sliders are bomb, better than Popeyes & Chikfila
MoreFood is average. Prices are a bit high. But a nice change from the Asian market dominated area.
